DISTRICT READS WITH ROSA LOWINGER

Esteemed author and art conservator Rosa Lowinger will be launching her highly anticipated book, “Dwell Time: A Memoir of Art, Exile, and Repair,” on Wednesday, October 11th. The event will take place at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni Miami’s Library, located at 3704 NE 2nd Ave. Floor 5, Miami, FL, 33137, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

“Dwell Time” is a groundbreaking memoir, being the first of its kind by a working conservator of art and historic buildings. Lowinger will engage in a captivating conversation about her experiences with esteemed artist Nereida Garcia-Ferraz during the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from the author about her journey as an art conservator, specializing in sculpture and architecture.

Originally hailing from Cuba and raised in Miami, Lowinger is the co-founder and co-chief conservator of RLA Conservation of Art + Architecture, a renowned firm with offices in Miami and Los Angeles. She holds a degree from NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Program and is a Fellow of both the American Institute for Conservation and the Association for Preservation Technology. In 2008-09, Lowinger was honored with the Rome Prize Fellowship in Conservation at the American Academy in Rome, where she conducted research on the history of vandalism and iconoclasm.

Lowinger’s impressive repertoire includes curating exhibitions such as “Concrete Paradise: Miami Marine Stadium at the Coral Gables Museum” and “Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction” at the Wolfsonian. She has also authored notable books like “Tropicana Nights: The Life and Times of the Legendary Cuban Nightclub.”

Following the author discussion, there will be a book signing session, allowing attendees to have their copies of “Dwell Time” autographed by Rosa Lowinger herself. The event will culminate with a rooftop reception, offering a delightful opportunity for guests to network and celebrate the release of this outstanding memoir.
