Design Miami/ Basel: Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec partner with HSBC Private Bank to design 'Lianes' for Connection Collection II

HSBC Private Bank first partnered with Design Miami/ in 2006, and since then the Bank has continued to strengthen and reinforce ties with this important design fair.  Taking the Bank’s philosophy to open doors and make connections for clients around the world, in 2009 HSBC Private Bank launched The Connection Collection – an initiative to build up a private collection of limited-edition design, grown out of commissions by HSBC Private Bank.

This year at the tenth show of Design Miami/ in Basel in the HSBC Private Bank VIP Lounge, the HSBC Connection Collection II will feature Lianes, designed by acclaimed French duo, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.  Lianes is a lighting installation of interconnected lamps in which every single element is unified – from the long cables to the fixation points to the actual light shell – by covering each interrelated part in a single-color leather ‘skin’.

HSBC Private Bank was introduced to Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec while the French design duo was preparing to exhibit Roches, Conques, Lianes at Gallery kreo in Paris.  It was Lianes that expressed the notion of connections and most specifically the Bank’s profound conviction that the most innovative, relevant and successful design – as in business – results from the connections between people.
