DEAN & DELUCA plans interactive experiences at Design Miami

DEAN & DELUCA plans interactive experiences at Design MiamiDEAN & DELUCA, the renowned destination for fine foods, brings its brand to life through an inaugural partnership with Design Miami/, the global forum for design to be held in Miami on December 2-6, 2015.  During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with DEAN & DELUCA in a variety of ways:

  • DEAN & DELUCA presents CHEESE, December 2-6: A dynamic installation that transports guests to 1973, when Giorgio DeLuca opened his first space on Prince Street in SoHo, THE CHEESE STORE. With CHEESE at Design Miami/, renowned designers Adam Charlap Hyman and Andre Herrero of Charlap Hyman & Herrero offer a surrealist take on the classic DEAN & DELUCA store with a display that distorts its iconic materials and minimal design to riff on the idea of an avant garde food retail experience. Charlap Hyman notes that this installation brings him full-circle, as he grew up going to DEAN & DELUCA, and his grandmother’s sculpting studio was in the space that became THE CHEESE STORE. Visitors are welcome to share their photos of CHEESE using the handle #TheBigCheeseMiami and hashtag @deananddeluca.  Rendering attached.
  • FOOD+DESIGN panel, December 4, Design Talks Studio: DEAN & DELUCA presents a conversation on food and design that explores the relationship between the two, and its continual evolution. The talk will be moderated by Rodman Primack, director of Design Miami/, with panelists Laila Gohar, founder of Sunday Supper, Deyan Sudjic, director of the Design Museum in London, and Lee Schrager, founder and director of the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. Guests will come away with new insights into the role that the food world has played in the evolution of design, and how the design world has influenced the aesthetics and experience of food.
  • Design Miami/ Market, December 2-6: Those looking to bring home a taste of DEAN & DELUCA for the holiday season can head to the Design Miami/ Market, which will feature a DEAN & DELUCA kiosk designed by Emmett Moore where the brand’s specialty salts, including black truffle sea salt and fleur de sel, as well as their olive and truffle oils will be sold.

Through the creative collaborations at Design Miami/, DEAN & DELUCA aims to create memorable moments for visitors, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to innovation in the worlds of food and design.  “Giorgio DeLuca and his founding partners made the DEAN & DELUCA market experience unique for customers by curating product from around the globe,” says Charles Finch of Finch & Partners. “Their sense of discovery gave them a unique authority in the food world. This, combined with the simplicity and authenticity of the store designs, made DEAN & DELUCA what it is. Design has been intrinsic to us, and is an essential element of the DEAN & DELUCA experience.  Here in Miami, we wish to celebrate how much design is integral to us at DEAN & DELUCA, and hope this is reflected in our installation and panel.”
