United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, in collaboration with Broward Behavioral Health Coalition and Broward County Government, presented the Behavioral Health Conference: Building Healthier Communities on May 10th and 11th at Signature Grand in Davie, Florida. Approximately 500 professionals in the behavioral health service field participated in the Conference which promoted community awareness and support of behavioral health.

Notable Speakers at the event included Darryl Strawberry, Major League Baseball All-Star and Co-Founder of the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center; and Tonier Cain, CEO and Founder of Healing Neen, Inc.  During the Conference, Broward County Commissioner and Chair of the Behavioral Health Coalition Board of Directors Lois Wexler presented a Proclamation to Maria HernandezVice President of Program Operations at United Way of Broward County.  Commissioner Wexler also presented an award to the Honorable Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren in recognition of Judge Lerner-Wren’s 19th anniversary with the Mental Health Court.
