Company members of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida are excited about this year’s performances of The Nutcracker. They are ready to dance the roles of the Sugarplum Fairy and her cavalier, the Nutcracker Prince, the Marzipan dance, the Snow Queen and other wonderful dances that entertain all ages audiences during the holiday season, with music of P.I. There will be three venues showcasing the critically acclaimed performance of Vladimir Issaev. Stages of the Gusman Theater, the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and The Parker Playhouse of Fort Lauderdale will be filled with snowflakes, sugarplums, gorgeous little angels and magical dolls.
Dancers Jun Tanabe, Kaori Fukui and Koheei Kuwana from Japan, Breeana Flannery from Australia, local Lillian Hill of Ft. Lauderdale, Liza Maltseva and Olga Mekhonoshina from Russia, Yhosvany Rodriguez and Claudia Hernandez from Cuba, along with Kelvin Rabines from Peru, Lusian Hernandez from Venezuela and Claresta Alim from Indonesia compose the new corps of professional dancers of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida.
Issaev’s engaging choreography preserves the Russian tradition, and serves as an alternative to those who already have seen Balanchine’s version.
Every year the production is renovated. Special effects, falling snow and growing Christmas tree, will enchant children and adults during the performance.
