Proving in the most definitive way that one need not abandon a regular fitness routine while on vacation — even a luxury vacation at sea — Crystal Cruises has set a comprehensive lineup of health and fitness experts for its December 6 Mind, Body & Spirit theme cruise. Aboard the 14-day Crystal Serenity sailing from New Orleans to Miami, world renowned extreme runner Dane Rauschenberg will complete a full marathon on the award-winning ship on December 11, 2016 while cruising the Caribbean Sea. A 26.2-mile feat that translates to approximately 96 laps around the 360-degree Promenade Deck. Once completed, Rauschenberg will be the first to run a marathon at sea. The challenge is the latest in Rauschenberg’s long career as a long-distance runner, which has seen him complete 52 marathons in 52 consecutive weekends, as well as a 350-mile run up the coast of his native Oregon and a 202-mile relay, solo. Noted as a powerful, passionate and engaging speaker, Rauschenberg will share tales and experiences from his colorful career during presentations in Crystal Serenity’s posh lounges and theaters.

“‘Mind, Body & Spirit’ voyages are among our most popular, as our guests are not just culturally and globally savvy travelers, but also active and inquisitive individuals,” says Crystal CEO and President Edie Rodriguez. “To have such a passionate athlete as Dane Rauschenberg aboard will certainly entertain, but also inspire travelers, whether they, too, are avid runners or prefer sunset walks around the promenade. The point is, there is always an option for those who seek health and wellness activities, even while traveling the world.”

Joining Rauschenberg in the wellness focused programming are meditation and yoga instructor Dina Michelle and lifestyle and wellness expert Barbara Udell. Michelle, will offer classes in the state-of-the-art fitness center, while Udell will share her experiences and research in the fields of lifestyle, longevity and behavioral health education.

Beyond the specialized theme programming on board, health-minded guests can take advantage of numerous amenities and activities for fitness and wellness. Recent upgrades to Crystal Serenity’s fitness facilities include an Outdoor Fitness Garden, with innovative equipment curated into a self-guided “Movement Journey,” utilizing the glass-blasted stainless steel equipment and features adjustments for beginner, intermediate and advanced fitness levels with warm-up, circuit training and cool-down phases. Indoors, the fully equipped and spacious fitness center is staffed by expert personal trainers and outfitted with top line technology including TechnoGym cardio equipment and TechnoGym’s Kinesis™ resistance training equipment. Specialty classes include ‘Tour de Cycle’ spin, yoga and Pilates Reformer® sessions, while each dining venue on board features fresh, healthful options that cater to most any dietary restrictions and needs.

The 14-day “Bourbon Street to South Beach” voyage overnights in the Big Easy before embarking for Grand Cayman, British West Indies; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Willemstad, Curaçao; Martinique/Fort-de-France, French West Indies; Guadeloupe/Point-a-Pitre, West Indies; St. Barts/Gustavia, French West Indies; Turks & Caicos, UK; and Miami, Florida.
