Craig Zinn and Heavyweight World Championship Contender Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz Team Up to Raise Awareness for Rare Disorders and the Pediatric Medical Services

Craig Zinn, Founder and CEO of the Craig Zinn Automotive Group, South Florida’s premier auto group, hosted a special community send-off celebration party and fan meet and greet with Cuban heavyweight contender Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz, at his Toyota of Hollywood dealership.

Many fans came with their children to give Ortiz an amaZINN South Florida send-off as he gears up to compete for the Heavyweight World Championship. In the fall, Ortiz will fight heavyweight world titleholder Deontay Wilder at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The evening began with a complimentary BBQ dinner, courtesy of Toyota of Hollywood, along with an autograph and fan photo session with Ortiz. Guests got to show-off their creativity using Crayola Markers on a 2019 Toyota CHR that was wrapped all in white as their canvas. One of the highlights of the event was the children’s corner. Kids enjoyed spinning the wheel for prizes and receiving give-a-ways from Toyota of Hollywood and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, while representatives from San Bernardo Ice Cream scooped ice cream for all to savor.

Unlike other boxers, Ortiz’s motivation is not fame and fortune, it’s fighting for awareness for his daughter’s rare medical condition. Ortiz’s daughter lives with a painful skin disorder, Epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Both Zinn and Ortiz have a passion for supporting children’s causes. They teamed up to raise awareness for the pediatric medical services offered at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to treat EB and other rare medical disorders.

“I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to team up with Craig Zinn to bring awareness to this disease that my daughter and our family have been battling with her entire life. My daughter must know that fighting this battle and moving forward is how we can accomplish anything in life. I continue to fight for many reasons; one is that I know that I will become the champion and two, so my daughter can always see that you must always fight for what you want or need in life. I thank my family, my team, and second Family Jay and Javier Jimenez, who are my Managers, and Herman Caicedo, my trainer. I also want to thank Craig Zinn, who has become a friend. I know we will remain friends for years to come,” said Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz, Cuban Heavyweight Professional Boxer.

“The partnership between our children’s Hospital and the Craig Zinn Automotive Group allows us to raise awareness about Epidermolysis bullosa (EP) and advocate for our patients with this disorder, as well as other uncommon diseases that we see on a daily basis, but are unknown to the general public,” said Hanadys Ale, MD., Pediatric Immunologist and Allergist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

“I think raising awareness has a lot to do with it. Unless somebody is personally battling with this situation, it’s someone else’s problem. I support Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital because when we make it our problem, and we all work together, we bring forth change,” said Craig Zinn, Founder and CEO at the Craig Zinn Automotive Group.

“As a physician who treats children with rare disorders, it is very encouraging to see that we have the support of people from our community. Due to the generosity of people like Mr. Zinn and Mr. Ortiz, we can grow and continue providing the absolute best care to the children of South Florida,” said Francis Jeshira Reynoso Santos, MD., Pediatric Geneticist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
