Costa Afuera Art Exhibition in Wynwood

unnamed-18 The Wynwood Art District is in for a treat this June – Russian artist Innokenti Baranov opened his art exhibit May 26 at Parmigiani Gallery. His Costa Afuera exhibition will run through June 27. Baranov’s passion for painting has led him to exhibit his work in more than 20 countries, showcasing his love for expressionism.

Raised in Moscow, Baranov studied graphic art at Moscow Academic Art College. He also studied painting and animated film at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. He has held exhibitions in Berlin, Moscow, Hamburg, Saratov, Zurich, Vienna, Rosslau, Dessau, and Long Island, NY.

Today Baranov lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He is excited to show his work to a new community.

“The Wynwood Art District is one of the world’s greatest creative zones,” Baranov said. “When I arrived I noticed the art here is endless. There’s so much talent and culture in this community – I’m honored to exhibit my work here.”

Baranov’s artwork is heavily influenced by Russian and European art. His use of intense color, reinterpreted classical plots, and grotesque human characters and objects are all inspired by Russian artists who lived in central Europe. Baranoc plans to meet with art students in the area for art lessons.

Along with painting, Baranov has worked on illustrations for a dozen books published in Austria, Germany and Russia. His interest in caricature led to his creation of cartoons of well-known German athletes and politicians – some of which have been the subject of several exhibitions.

Baranov aims to express his cultural environment through his feelings of hope, fear, and complex existentialism. As a conscious cosmopolitan, he uses his art to discard old-fashioned ideals in order to promote open-mindedness, sympathy and faith.

Baranov’s exhibit is open for public viewing from 2 to 7 p.m. at the beautiful and spacious Parmigiani Gallery.
