Coral Springs Center for the Arts Invites Kids & Teens to NEXT STOP BROADWAY Summer Camp 2019

Next Stop Broadway’s production of SCHOOL OF ROCKS during Summer 2018 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts

The Coral Springs Center for the Arts is offering a fun, theatrical-based summer camp for children and teens this summer. To register, a deposit of $99 per person is required by May 3. Note: There is a 10 percent early registration discount through March 1, 2019.

Kids and teens are invited to star in their favorite films live this Summer with the “number one performing arts camp” in South Florida. Next Stop Broadway Summer Campwill present four fun and family-friendly musicals this summer: FREAKY FRIDAY, SHREK, MATILDAandCHICAGO.
Next Stop Broadway is the premier training center for young performers in South Florida. Established in 2002, it has been making lifelong memories for the past 17 years. Children are split into age/grade-appropriate groups, and travel to classes full of fun activities designed just for them in Singing, Dancing, Acting, Stage Production Arts, and more. Each session culminates in full-scale, fully designed production, in which everycamper participates.
In addition, the Coral Springs Center for the Arts offers an extended care program, lunch program, and so much more. This year’s summer camp programs:
June 5-7          (Grades 1-8)
The Prequel
This 2019 Pre-Camp offers talented children three days of activities in this state-of-the-art facilities, where campers will be able to workshop audition pieces with directors, advance their training with vocal and dance classes, and perform in the 2019 Jamboree Orientation.

+ Tuition:  $200  (package includes optional extended care hours, preferred seating at the 2019 Jamboree, and Pizza Party Dinner on Jamboree night)
YOUTH CAMP     (Grades K-8; Ages 6-13)

FREAKY FRIDAY
Plot: When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other’s shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another’s struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

SHREK
Plot: Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film,Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrekbrings all the beloved characters you know from the film to live on stage and promises there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

MATILDA
Plot: Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

TEEN THEATRE PROJECT  (Grades 9+; Ages 14+)
This will be a complete, pre-professional experience set in an encouraging environment in which everyone participates in the entire full-scale, fully designed production. Lead by an incredible production team, the Teen Theatre Project also features industry workshops with visiting professionals, agent scouting, and more.
June 24-July 26
CHICAGO
Plot: Set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.
