Cool off at this historic, haunted art-house cinema in Miami’s Little Havana

In search of fun indoor activities to beat the heat this summer or neat places to take a date? Head to MDC’s Tower Theater Miami, located next to Domino Park in the heart of Little Havana. This historic art-house cinema was established in 1926 and is one of the city’s oldest (and coolest!) landmarks, distinguished by its Art Deco-style exterior and 40-foot-tall steel tower. It is said to be haunted by ghosts including the Theater’s first-ever manager named Nelson who allegedly loved the Theater so much that he never left.

A social gathering spot for both movie and culture lovers, Tower Theater Miami regularly features screenings of English and Spanish-language indie films with Spanish subtitles, year-round events including movie premieres with actors, directors and producers, and culturally-specific exhibits, displaying original work by local Cuban artists. Not to mention, the Theater is home to MDC’s Miami Film Festival (March 3-12, 2023) and GEMS (November 3-6, 2022).

This comedy-drama with an all-star cast opens on June 17. You can find several upcoming, featured screenings and events HERE.
