COLOR CREATIVE AND POWDERKEG ANNOUNCE TEEN MOVIE CONTEST

ssa Rae and Deniese Davis of Color Creative and Paul Feig and Laura Fischer of Powderkeg are looking to find
the next DECADE DEFINING movie for the 2020’s.
Issa Rae and Deniese Davis of Color Creative and Paul Feig and Laura Fischer of Powderkeg have partnered on a teen movie contest. This call to creative action plans to inspire this generation to create its own decade defining film.
Launched this week, submissions are currently open to find a feature film pitch written about the modern teenage experience.
This unique competition is looking for fresh and inclusive perspectives on an ensemble feature film pitch that captures the humor, awkwardness and the all-consuming drama of the modern high school experience. Pitches were instructed to be comedic, have heart and speak to a diverse audience.
Continuing the legacy of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Clueless, Empire Records, Mean Girls and Bring It On this contest hopes to generate the next epic teen film.
The Prompt for all submissions: The creators of Freaks and Geeks and Insecure are looking for a comedic story that tells the teen experience in 2020. The stakes are high (or at least feel high) and the high school experience is so varied but somehow universal. How do you find your place? How do you feel comfortable in your own skin? How do you thrive in high school?
Submissions can be completed at colorcreative.tv/contests
The contest launched earlier this week and will close August 9th, 2019.
The contest kicks off with a first round that includes a 1-3 page pitch submission with a title and short logline. Two projects will be chosen as finalists, and each given a budget of $25,000 to produce a proof of concept short film. A final pitch will then be selected to produce as a feature length film. Both companies will produce and set the film up with distribution.
