City of Lauderhill Now Accepting Applications for LAUDERHILL SHINES – Cohort 7, Building Capacity for New and Existing Businesses in Lauderhill.
Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn, the founder of the program, is excited to announce that the City of Lauderhill is now accepting applications for the 7th Cohort of the dynamic capacity development initiative, Lauderhill Shines.
Lauderhill Shines is a FREE 12-week virtual course designed for business owners in the City of Lauderhill who want to build their knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed and flourish in the world of business.
This comprehensive program consists of four online modules: “Doing Business in Lauderhill,” “Laying a Strong Foundation,” “Getting Customers,” and “Scaling Your Business.” Each module is taught by local business leaders and City Officials, supplemented with interactive question-and-answer sessions and live master classes.
Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn emphasizes the program’s success, stating, “We have graduated over 80 business owners from Lauderhill Shines. These graduates have contributed to the growth of our community and played a vital role in sustaining our vibrant economy. Small businesses are the backbone of Lauderhill, and we are committed to providing the hands-on support needed for their success.”
Participants in Lauderhill Shines will also have access to business mentors and opportunities to engage with professionals from both the private and public sectors, fostering a supportive network for learning and growth.
One of the key aspects of Lauderhill Shines is the support provided by the city’s Economic Development Department, who guides participants through the process of acquiring a business license in the City of Lauderhill. This ensures that graduates have the necessary paperwork and permits to operate their businesses legally and efficiently.
Anson Stuart, founder and principal architect of Stuart Architecture LLC and a graduate of Lauderhill Shines Cohort 3, shared his experience and success story, stating, “This program gave me the access, knowledge, and resources needed to grow my business. Since graduating, my sales have increased significantly, and I have even won government contracts that allowed me to expand and hire additional employees. Lauderhill Shines truly helped me take my business to the next level.”
Lauderhill Shines is open to individuals who want to start a brand new business, relocate an existing business, or who currently own a business in Lauderhill. The program provides comprehensive support and resources tailored to the specific needs of participants, regardless of their stage in the entrepreneurial journey.
Classes for Cohort 7 will commence on September 13, 2023. To register, please visit the online application form available at Lauderhill-fl.gov/
