The first annual CimaFest Miami, a one-day music festival curated by and starring Cimafunk, will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at the Oasis in Wynwood. The AfroCuban funk sensation and his 9-piece band The Tribe will be joined by Venezuelan singer-and-songwriter Elena Rose, Cuba’s up-and-coming reparto star Wampi, and Jamaican producer and DJ Walshy Fire. More artists and special guests will be added to the bill.
Featuring artists from Cuba, Jamaica, and Venezuela, CimaFest Miami will serve as a celebration of the Caribbean, Africa and African roots, Funk music and Black Culture.
“Miami is going to feel like a street party in Havana, a funk rave in Brazil and a “dancehall banger in Kingston, Jamaica all in one,” says Cimafunk. “We’re bringing the culture; we’re bringing the funk; and it’s going to be a vibe. I’m honored to be joined by Elena, Walshy and Wampi and we have some more surprises too.”
Cimafunk and the Tribe held the first annual CimaFest NOLA in April 2023 at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans, where they were joined by Angelika “Jelly” Joseph, Brenda Navarrete, La Dame Blanche, Maurice Brown, Paul Beaubrun, Pedrito Martinez and Stanton Moore.
Elena Rose and Wampi will perform will full bands and Walshy Fire, who performed in front of 400,000 Cubans in Havana, Cuba in 2016 with Major Lazer will be holding it down on the turntables. CimaFest Miami will serve as the U.S. debut for Wampi, who has become the face of reparto, which mixes traditional Cuban music with reggaeton, in Cuba. Miami music fans will be lucky to see Elena Rose, who has positioned herself as a rising star in Latin music, collaborating with the likes of Bad Bunny, Becky G and Sebastian Yatra and being named a Latin Artist on the Rise by Billboard, rocking out with her band.
Cimafunk sold out the Miami Beach Bandshell during his October 2021 “El Alimento” album release concert, where he was joined on stage by Chucho Valdes, George Clinton and Leoni Torres as guests. CimaFest Miami will take place at the Oasis Wynwood, an, open-air venue perfect for a late-night, sweaty dance party.
