Prepare to be captivated as The Cleveland Orchestra reunites with the exceptional talents of New World Symphony (NWS) for an afternoon of breathtaking chamber music. On November 19, music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness the collaboration between these two extraordinary groups at a performance set to take place at a venue renowned for its acoustics, the Miami Beach concert hall.

Highlighting the program is Dai Fujikura’s transcendent quintet for winds, aptly titled “Cosmic Breath.” Known for his boundary-pushing compositions, Fujikura invites audiences to experience a musical journey that stretches beyond the realms of the ordinary, leaving listeners in awe of the unique soundscape he has created.

The program continues with the joyful string quartet composed by Dmitri Shostakovich, a towering figure in the world of symphonic music. Dedicated to his beloved wife, this masterpiece showcases Shostakovich’s ability to infuse both emotion and playfulness into his compositions, leaving a lasting impression on all who encounter it.

Robert Schumann’s lush fugues, originally composed for piano, have been brilliantly arranged for piano trio by one of his students. This adaptation breathes new life into Schumann’s intricate counterpoint, allowing the audience to explore the depth and complexity of his work through a fresh and invigorating lens.

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ned Rorem will also be featured during this remarkable afternoon. His composition, performed by eleven virtuoso soloists, promises to amaze and delight, demonstrating Rorem’s ability to craft music that challenges convention while remaining accessible and engaging.
