Award-winning and charismatic actor/comedian Cedric the Entertainer will perform at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m.
Cedric the Entertainer’s universal appeal, versatility, and tremendous career successes spanning television, films and live performances has solidified his standing as one of the premier entertainers in the world.
Recently named the new host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Cedric will join the long-running game show in its 12th season in national syndication. He replaces Meredith Vieira, who launched the weekday version of the game show in 2002 and remained host for 11 seasons.
Last year, Cedric debuted his new TV Land comedy series The Soul Man, spinning-off his Hot in Cleveland character “Reverend Boyce ‘The Voice’ Ballentine” a former R and B music star turned minister. The show is currently in production for its second season.
Cedric the Entertainer also known for his many crowd-pleasing performances in such hit films as Barbershop & Barbershop 2, Be Cool, the Madagascar franchise, Intolerable Cruelty, Johnson Family Vacation (the 2004 box office hit in which Cedric was both star and producer), and The Original Kings of Comedy (MTV’S phenomenally successful documentary feature directed by Spike Lee) He’s also co-starred in A Haunted House and Larry Crowne, as well as shared the marquee in Cadillac Records, Street Kings, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, Talk to Me, Codename: The Cleaner, The Honeymooners (in which he starred as Jackie Gleason’s famed character “Ralph Cramden”), Lemony Snicket, Man of The House, Big Momma’s House, Kingdom Come and Serving Sara, in addition to displaying tremendous vocal talent in the family features Charlotte’s Web, Dr. Doolittle 2 and Ice Age. He will next lend his voice to Disney’s Planes in theaters August 2013.
As an entertainer and comedian, the multi-talented performer holds a variety of honors. Cedric’s first-ever HBO Comedy Special, Cedric the Entertainer: Taking You Higher, was the highest rated special of 2006 for the network. Two years later, he made his critically acclaimed Broadway debut in David Mamet’s masterpiece American Buffalo. Notable accolades for his work include the AFTRA Award of Excellence in Television Programming for his Fox Television series “Cedric The Entertainer Presents…” and a record-breaking four consecutive NAACP Image Awards for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” for his portrayal of the lovable “Coach Cedric Robinson” on the WB’s #1-rated The Steve Harvey Show, which ran for six seasons. He’s also the recipient of the 1996 Richard Pryor Comic of the Year Award from Black Entertainment Television (BET) for his ground-breaking work as host of Def Comedy Jam and BET’s Comic View (1994-95).
His first humorous book entry, Grown-Ass Man, was released in January of 2002 and sold out across the country.
As a philanthropist, Cedric founded the Cedric the Entertainer Charitable Foundation which provides college scholarships and outreach programs to enhance the lives of inner-city youth and their families in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Over 200 scholarships and countless incentives have been awarded to date and he plans to extend the organization, nationally.
