Have you been waiting to try CBD?
Join us for a CBD infused Farm-to-Table meal created by our very own Chef Allen Susser. The menu echoes our signature plant-based, family-style dinners only this time, it incorporates CBD into our sustainable cuisine.

What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants. CBD has been shown to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, lessen anxiety, and ease stress. Research shows CBD to be a valuable contributor to our emotional health & wellness.

Why use CBD in cooking?
CBD needs to be infused into a fat or oil-based ingredient, like butter, ghee, lard, or coconut oil. Cooking with CBD is an easy way to benefit from its therapeutic effects.

If you’re thinking this name looks familiar, it’s for good reason – Jonah is the son of Mitchell Kaplan, the owner of Books & Books. After spending a few years in the sports business after college, Jonah returned home to Coral Gables to join his father at the store and manage the Café. Based out of the Coral Gables location, Jonah works to keep the Café running smoothly, manages catering requests, and more.

Following an injury to his foot while playing basketball, Jonah found that taking a daily dose of CBD oil really helped to ease his pain. “It’s a wellness thing,” Jonah says of CBD, “and we wanted to share that with people. Wellness is what our Cafe is all about — great, healthy, locally-sourced and delicious food.”

For those of you who have questions about any aspect of CBD, we’ve invited Dr. Eric Exelbert, a board-certified pediatric intensivist and board-certified pediatrician. Dr. Exelbert sees patients of all ages and all diagnoses, and he has great interest and expertise in complex pediatric and adult cases. These complex cases often require a non-traditional treatment approach, which may include the use of CBD and medical cannabis when other methods are simply ineffective.
