Cast Reunion Party & Miami Rhapsody Screening Launches the Celebrations for MIFF’s 30 Anniversary

On Friday, February 8, 2013, Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), produced and presented by Miami Dade College, will highlight its 30th anniversary celebrations with a “cast reunion” and screening of a film from 1995’s festival, Miami Rhapsody, directed by David Frankel, as part of  MIFF’s month-long Countdown Retrospective series.

Special guests include cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Jeremy Piven and Carla Gugino, whowill join Director David Frankel for the evening, which will begin with a 35mm screening of Miami Rhapsody at 7 p.m. After the screening, the “Cast Reunion” will continue with a party at The Coral Gables Country Club at 9 p.m.

Miami Rhapsody is a clever romantic comedy set in Miami about the infinite perils, and possibilities, of marriage in the mid-nineties. Director David Frankel, who also penned the screenplay, follows in the footsteps of Woody Allen in using introspective dialogue to detail the romantic troubles of a wealthy, neurotic Jewish family.

The party will be produced by Toronto-based Liberty Entertainment Group, one of Canada’s top nightlife and entertainment companies, who has been responsible for many Toronto International Film Festival gala parties for the past 15 years. Guests will be able to enjoy cocktails courtesy of Bacardi, as well as champagne provided by Premiere.

The evening is part ofMIFF’s mission to celebrate and commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a Countdown Retrospective that begins Saturday, January 26, 2013. Each night leading up to the festival, a film from MIFF’s past will be screened at MDC’s Tower Theater.
