Burlini Studio of the Arts Donates Jungle Themed Mural to Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center

Burlini Studio of the Arts in Boca Raton donated two jungle themed murals to the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) on Thursday, March 10, 2011. One of Burlini Studio of the Arts’ core principles is to make contributions to the local South Florida community.  The impetus for this donation began when Leslie Roth, a member of CDTC’s Sunflower Circle of Friends and a current student at the Studio, suggested the Center as a potential project.  Owners Chris and Belinda Burlini, who are always looking for unique opportunities to get involved and to make a difference, agreed to the project and began the process of creating a piece that would fit into the current environment of the Center.

Over 100 students, between the ages 40 and 90 years from the Burlini Studio of the Arts, participated in the creation of the Jungle Mural which took over two months to complete. Mr. Burlini was inspired by the children and the jungle-themed room of the Center’s Early Steps Clinic to create a piece for the children’s enjoyment.  Over the course of the creation process, the project grew into an outpouring of gratitude for the experience to do something that would truly make a difference for the children and families who are served by the Center. Mr. Burlini also created coloring books for the children based on the mural’s original jungle and animal scenes. A student at the Studio donated crayons for the children to use in their own art creations or with their new coloring books.

“We wanted to create a piece that would further add to the fanciful nature of the clinic, where clients could remember that while we all struggle, there are still small things of beauty that we can pause to enjoy,” said Mr. Burlini.

“These exquisite murals have made a tremendous impression on our families as they communicate the generosity and the love of so many wonderful artists for these children.  These beautiful paintings enhance the quality of the lives of our children each and every day,” said Dr. Susan M. Widmayer, Executive Director of CDTC.
