British Chamber Music Concert – St. Stephen's Church Coral Gables

rebecca clarkeThe South Florida premiere of the chamber music of the British-American composer, Rebecca Clark, will be celebrated at a special concert at 7:30 PM on November 13, 2009, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Coconut Grove.
 
The music of Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979) has become increasingly well-known in recent years.  She attended the Royal Academy of Music and was an acclaimed violist in England as well as a composer. She collaborated with many well-known English poets and musicians.  Much of her later work was written and performed in the U.S. Her music spans a range of styles and is known for its lyricism, passion and power. 
 
This concert will provide an opportunity to hear Rebecca Clarke’s songs and chamber pieces performed by award-winning musicians who have toured extensively, and to hear introductory remarks by Liane Curtis, music critic and authority on Clarke’s work.

The Choir and Musicians of St Stephen’s Church will also be performing at the British Chamber Christmas Lunch on December 11th to be held at the InterContinental Hotel.
