BISCAYNE BAY PILOTS ASSOCIATION TO CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL WITH WINE DOWN WEDNESDAY BOOK PRESENTATION AT HISTORYMIAMI

The Biscayne Bay Pilots Association invites members of the media and historical community for an exclusive book talk and signing of “A Century of Service, A History of the Biscayne Bay Pilots.” The book, authored by Captain Andrew D. Melick and edited by famed historian Dr. Paul George, chronicles the role of the pilots in events that led to the establishment of Miami as a port town at the turn of the 20th century and the evolution of the city and its seaport ever since. Guests will be able to purchase $15 tickets on-site for a full open bar and hors d’oeuvres by 2B Asian Bistro. Live music will be provided by Raffa &Rainer.

WHO:                         Captain Andrew Melick of the Biscayne Bay Pilots Association will be signing the commemorative books, along with Dr. Paul George, dignitaries and Biscayne Bay Pilots. All proceeds from the book sales will benefit the BBPA’s Andres Cancela Scholarship Fund, which has been dedicated to the first Cuban-American harbor pilot and hopes to aid minorities interested in attending a maritime college.
