A Street Naming Dedication Ceremony Honoring President Barack Obama
Join Commissioner Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Johnson, The City of Opa-locka, in partnership with a host of South Florida Communities, as they kick-off the street renaming ceremony at Historic City Hall with an electrifying ‘Hail to The Chief’ parade. The parade will include actress and former Opa-locka native, Jo Marie Payton of the hit ABC series Family Matters as the Grand Marshall, along with many other celebrity guests and prominent dignitaries. The parade will be followed by a brief program and the anticipated sign unveiling renaming Pervis Avenue to President Barack Obama Avenue. The commemoration will culminate into an afternoon with foods, festivities, famous battle of the bands contest, entertainment and fun for the entire family at the historic Sherbondy Park.
