Bandshell Music Activation Directed by Sam Hillmer and Trans-PecosLocation: The North Beach Amphitheater (Bandshell) at SATELLITE

This December at Satellite, Sam Hillmer and Trans-Pecos present a musical program featuring innovative outsider aesthetics and social practice from a radical diversity of social, geographic, and chronological origin. Pivoting on the noise element in many musical enclaves, programming shifts between no wave, dance hall, ghetto tech, free jazz, drone ambient, and global bass. This musical program at once highlights the historicity in American outsider musical practice as well as the lateral peer logic of the internet that dominates musical association in our current dialogue.

However, reintroducing the aspect of historicity by framing the work of Ghetto Tech producers likeTraxman in terms of the work of No Wave heroes like James Chance is the signature style and point of pride. Additionally, SATELLITE has emphasized musical practitioners with some form of art practice as well, so expect many performative, visual, and sonic interjections throughout the 5 day program.

Spread the love!
