Join Books & Books, UM-NSU Center for Autism & Related Disabilities and Autism Speaks for our first Autism Awareness Forum with moderator Jennifer Eldredge-Bird, Books & Books’ own mother of two high-functioning autistic sons; and special guests: Lula Folgosa, Miami-Dade Chapter Autism Speaks Executive Director; Jennifer Stella-Durocher, PhD., UM-NSU CARD Assistant Director; Ricky Herrera, 17-year-old founder of the Belen Basketball Clinic for children with autism; Commissioner Jimmy Morales, autism activist & parent of a daughter with autism; and Dr. Sara Dorison, child neurologist.
The panel discussion on autism will be followed by a very special book signing of Can You See Me? (Tate, $10.99) with author Mayra Ron and illustrator Christian Early, a 24-year old individual with autism. Books & Books is proud to donate a portion of the sales on April 1st, 2009 between 6pm and 9pm to UM-NSU CARD and Autism Speaks! During Autism Awareness Month we will be featuring many new books on Autism.
