“AUGMENTED” Curated by Seol Park of Spark Associates Art Management

AUGMENTEDLocation: Ocean Terrace Hotel | 7410 Ocean Terrace, Miami Beach, FL

Keeping visitors engaged between SATELLITE’s four waterfront venues will be outdoor artwork installations curated by Seol Park of Spark Associates Art Management. Titled “AUGMENTED”, the exhibit plans to showcase inspiring artistic visions taking shape at the intersection of art and technology, reality and imagination, physical and digital, and narrative and poetry. Participating artists include John Kelly (Australia), Carl Skelton (New York), Richard Humann (New York) and Shuli Sadé (Tel Aviv).

Spark invited seasoned American and international artists whose critically-acclaimed careers are anchored in the physical realm in the forms of painting, sculpture, photography, and multi-disciplinary installation, and asked each to conceive original artworks in 2D graphics and/or 3D sculptures to be viewed through AR (Augmented Reality) apps on smart phones at the SATELLITE site. The artists’ responses to this proposition are as thought-provoking and ambitious as they are poetic and lyrical.

The artworks will be placed throughout the the fair’s 3-block area, augmenting the urban and natural landscape of North Miami Beach and offering a refreshing counterpoint to the many location-agnostic, from-this-wall-to-another artworks that dominate the content offered at today’s nomadic art fair scene.
This project is curated by Seol Park and produced by SPARK+, an art management and curatorial agency based in New York City. Carl Skelton of Gotham Innovation Greenhouse is the exhibit’s technology counsel.
