The Mark Cuban Foundation’s Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp Initiative Teaches AI Concepts to Underserved High School Students through a 4-Saturday Bootcamp in the Fall

The Mark Cuban Foundation is bringing its highly successful AI Bootcamp to Miami Dade College this summer. The no-cost, four-hour curriculum will offer students the opportunity to work with open-source tools each day to build their own AI applications in areas such as Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI.

The Mark Cuban Foundation will provide the bootcamp’s curriculum materials, recruit and score applications for local students, and train corporate volunteer mentors. Additionally, the foundation will work with MDC to provide food, transportation, and access to laptops for students at no cost throughout the bootcamp.

Since its inception in 2019, the AI Bootcamp initiative has impacted over 900 students across several US cities, including Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Atlantic City. The foundation’s goal is to increase that number year over year.

One 10th-grade participant from the 2022 program said, “It was a lot of fun, I learned things I didn’t even know were possible with A.I. and their real-world applications showed me just how much it will change our world.”

Students and parents can apply now at markcubanai.org/mdcpr, and no prior experience with computer science, programming, or robotics is necessary. The deadline to apply is Friday, Sept. 8.

This program is an exceptional opportunity for future leaders to learn about artificial intelligence, which is becoming increasingly important in various fields. By attending this bootcamp, students can gain valuable knowledge and develop new skills that may help them succeed in their future careers. I am excited to see what the participants will create and how they will use their newfound skills to impact the world.
