Arts & Culture
The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University is running three major exhibitions this fall — a rare convergence of scope and ambition for one of South Florida's most important cultural institutions.
Louise Nevelson: Dawn to Dusk (through January 17, 2027) is one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of the pioneering sculptor's work in the United States. Featuring more than fifty works, it traces Nevelson's evolution from early figurative paintings to her iconic abstract wood constructions, collages, and handcrafted jewelry. Originally organized by the Farnsworth Art Museum in Maine, the exhibition reflects the full arc of a career that changed American sculpture.
Ofelia Rodriguez: Psychic Jungle (November 14, 2026 – July 25, 2027) is the first major US solo exhibition of the late Colombian artist, bringing together four decades of painting, drawing, printmaking, assemblage, and her signature magic boxes. Shaped by her life in Barranquilla, Paris, New York, and East London, Rodriguez's work blends humor and critique, memory and materiality, drawing from popular culture and personal myth.
What Takes Root (November 14, 2026 – April 11, 2027) marks the launch of the Green Family Collection at the Frost, a new initiative dedicated to supporting artists connected to South Florida. This year's acquisitions include works by Nereida Garcia-Ferraz, Loni Johnson, Silvia Lizama, Shayla Marshall, Reginald O'Neal, Chire (VantaBlack) Regans, and Rosco B. Thicke III. The Frost Art Museum is located at 10975 SW 17th Street, Miami, FL 33199. Visit frost.fiu.edu.
