MOCA miniMakers: Figure Drawing Workshop for Families on November 7
A posable figure. A blank page. The theatrical energy of Geoffrey Holder's paintings. MOCA miniMakers on November 7th is the kind of Saturday afternoon that stays with a kid.
Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
On Saturday, November 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, MOCA North Miami hosts miniMakers: Figure Drawing — a free monthly workshop for families with children ages 6 to 12, designed around artists, art history, and current MOCA exhibitions.
This session draws inspiration from the figures and theatrical energy in Geoffrey Holder's paintings. Families use mini posable figures to explore how a body can tell a story through gesture, posture, and movement. Participants pose a figure, make a simple observational drawing, then use color and collage to transform it into a bold imagined performer, character, or scene.
The workshop is free for members, adults, children under 12, seniors, and students. MOCA asks that participants register all children and adults in their group so staff can prepare the right number of seats.
MOCA is located at 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL 33161. Visit mocanomi.org/membership/ for registration and upcoming programming.
