Basic.Space Brings '50 Chairs at Christie's' to Beverly Hills — Eames, Rick Owens, and the Next Wave of Collectible Design

Basic.Space, the curated IRL-to-URL shopping destination, is taking over Christie’s Beverly Hills for ‘50 Chairs at Christie’s’ — a curated exhibition and sale of 50 rare and iconic chairs running September 25–30, 2026, with an invite-only VIP preview on September 24. The selection spans design classics and future icons, drawn from Basic.Space’s international network of designers, tastemakers, and collectors.

Historic highlights include Charles and Ray Eames’s LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) — a rare calfskin edition designed in 1945 and produced in 2002 for a Christie’s auction, contributed by The Eames Foundation — alongside Philippe Hiquily’s rare hammered-brass chair from the 1970s (contributed by Kelly Wearstler), Joe Colombo’s 1963 Elda Chair in molded fiberglass (contributed by Eric Wareheim), and Gufram’s oversized Pratone lounge chair.

Contemporary standouts include Rick Owens’s Stag Stool in black plywood and natural moose antler (via Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery), Sam Klemick’s Trumpet Dining Chair translating textile fluidity into solid wood, and Seoul-based designer SeungJin Yang’s Lounge Chair 01 – Transparent Blue — a playful piece formed from balloons and resin, contributed by The Future Perfect. Works by Devon Turnbull, Vince Skelly, PlayLab Inc., and Max Lamb round out the roster.
