ARTCENTER/SOUTH FLORIDA CELEBRATES 25TH BIRTHDAY AT ANNUAL RAFFLE FUNDRAISER

ArtCenter/South Florida (“ACSF”) celebrates 25 years of bringing contemporary art to Miami Beach with Winning Art!, the non-profit’s annual fundraiser, which raffles  the work of professional, emerging and established artists at $10 per ticket.   Now in its 7th edition, Kristen Thiele, Tony Chimento and Jill Hotchkiss join more than 40 artists-in-residence in gifting their works to generate thousands of dollars for ACSF’s education, exhibition and development programs.  With art as a sound investment in today’s economy, the odds of winning and potential long-term pay-off are lucrative incentives that benefit a great, local cause.  Works will be showcased from April 2 to May 16, 2010, at ArtCenter’s 800 Lincoln Road gallery, with the big draw taking place Saturday, May 15 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The Winning Art! exhibit is free and open to the public but admission to event night requires a raffle stub (proof of raffle participation).  Tickets are available at the main gallery, at artist studios (800, 810 and 924 Lincoln Road) and at ACSF’s administrative offices (924 Lincoln Road).  Prizes, cocktails, music and a mosaic of silent auction items will be up for grabs including: two original works courtesy of Harold Golen Gallery; a Nespresso Le Cube Titan machine; a one-year supply of Zone Bars; a Shaker membership from MOCA; Family membership from Miami Art Museum; $500 membership at Arsht Center of the Performing Arts, which includes a personally engraved stone in their plaza; a premier spa treatment at Viceroy; a gift basket from Kiehls; sunglasses from Giorgio Armani and more.

“The success of this fundraiser helps ArtCenter provide free art programs for children, job opportunities for artists and teachers, and instruction in design and other career enhancing artistic skills throughout the year,” said ACSF Executive Director Jeremy Chestler.  “ArtCenter has been a resource for South Florida’s residents for 25 years and with the community’shelp, we will continue to be for at least another 25.”

Many of ACSF’s alumni have thrived in their careers including William Cordova and Luis Gispert (Whitney Biennial), South Florida Cultural Consortium award-winner Julie Kahn and local art phenomenon Carolina Sardi.  Current artist-in-residence and 2010 Winning Art! contributor Natasha Duwin has a work in the Whitney’s permanent collection, which makes ACSF’s raffle all the more exceptional in offering art full of promise for a minimum donation of $10.
