Olympians Azea Augustama and Yordenis Ugas along with main event fighter Richard Abril head The Heavyweight Factory’s “Night of the Olympians” card on Tuesday, October 19, 7 p.m. at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Cuban-born Abril (12-2, 6 KOs) of Miami will fight Jose “El Gallo” Reyes (23-8, 8 KOs) of Puerto Rico in the 10-round main event lightweight regional title fight.
Ugas (3-0, 2 KOs), a bronze medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and gold medalist at the 2005 World Championships and 2007 Pan American Games for Cuba, will fight Bahamian Damian Tinker (3-3, 1 KO) in a 4-round welterweight matchup.
Ugas is trained by former two-time world champion John David Jackson, newly-hired head trainer at The Heavyweight Factory.
Former Hollywood PAL national and state champion Azea Augustama, a member of the Haitian 2008 Olympic team and undefeated cruiserweight (8-0, 5 KOs) will fight Reggie Pena (6-4, 1 KO) of Ocala in a 6-rounder.
Hometown favorite Joey (Twinkle Fingers) Hernandez of Miami (16-1, 9 KOs) will fight Mexican Jose Medina (12-8, 5 KOs) in an eight-round middleweight bout.
Also on the card is former University of Miami football player James Bryant (3-1, 2KOs). Bryant, a part-time model, recently made a Nike commercial with Miami Heat superstar Lebron James at Flamingo Park in Miami.
Bryant is a product of the Heavyweight Factory, a program that turns former football and basketball players into heavyweight boxers. Stablemate Michael Mitchell of Florida State is also on the card in a 4-rounder.
All total, twelve star-studded, action-packed fights are scheduled at 7 p.m. Doors open 6:30 p.m. The pre-fight press conference is set for Tuesday, Oct. 12 at a site and time still to be determined.
