“Many people can’t afford to provide quality care for their pets,” says event chair Sharon Jacobson.  “It’s The Clydey Foundation’s mission to bring to animals a better quality of life through population management and public education.”

Sharon says The Clydey Foundation was created and inspired in great part by the memory of her beloved tabby, Clydey, who died at the early age of 10 after complications from surgery.

“Clydey was the most loving, human like pet I have ever know,” said Sharon. “He brought me years of joy and happiness and his memory lives on through this foundation and the work that I do.”

“The Foundation works to reduce unnecessary euthanasia, births and deaths which ultimately results in a more stable and healthy, dog and cat population in South Florida,“ says Sharon.

The ClydeyMobile, serves as an Outreach Center, offering low cost spaying and neutering, testing, vaccinations and micro-chipping. Typically, the cost for spaying or neutering will range from $25-$40 compared to hundreds more at a veterinary clinic.  The Clydey Mobile has performed nearly 2,000 surgeries within the last year.

The 30-foot ClydeyMobile travels to scheduled areas throughout the tri-county area. It is state-of-the-art and capable of performing up to 50 surgeries a day with a top notch team of compassionate veterinarians.

Sharon Jacobson now devotes her days to the care and well being of animals who are unwanted, sick or in need. She leaves her house early in the morning, rain or shine, to feed a colony of feral cats, twice a day, who are hungry and anxiously awaiting her arrival with cat food and bottled water.

In the one year that it has been in existence, The Clydey Foundation has taken an active role in South Florida.

When cats were being tortured, the Clydey Foundation donated money to CrimeStoppers.

When Miami Dade Fire Rescue needed oxygen masks for dogs and cats, the Clydey Foundation made sure there was one mask on every unit in the county.

When a good citizen found a dog in the street who was hit by a car, The Clydey Foundation made sure “Ralphie” had the best care possible and also found him a loving home.

These are just some of the services handled by The Clydey Foundation on a daily basis.

“There are currently 800,000 stray and feral cats on the streets in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties.  We improve our own lives when we improve the lives of animals,” added Sharon.
