Learn how to get started at Fairchild’s Edible Garden Festival this Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21. Learn all you need to know about growing your own backyard garden including herbs and vegetables that lend well to the South Florida climate. During the Festival, Fairchild will also host a scarecrow contest and have a pumpkin patch! And don’t miss out on Fairchild volunteer Bev Murphy’s earth friendly, spooky and playful Halloween decorations—over 300 of her hand made decorations are on display throughout the Garden!
Gather new tips and recipes from our popular culinary demonstrations taught by local chefs using local products. Learn about composting, home worm production, how to garden with your children and so much more in one of the gardening lectures. Peruse the farmers’ market where local growers will showcase the best fruits, vegetables and herbs available in South Florida. 3rd Annual Scarecrow Competition
Enter into this year’s competition by creating an original botanical themed scarecrow!
All scarecrows will be showcased at our Edible Garden Festival through our Howl-o-ween event October 30. Guests will be able to cast votes to help us decide who will win the 2011 competition.
