Miami-Dade County has unveiled a groundbreaking addition to its airport amenities with the grand opening of the first Wait n’ Rest luxury sleep rooms in North America—only the second worldwide. The ribbon-cutting ceremony at Miami International Airport yesterday marks a significant shift in how travelers experience layovers and long journeys.

Located within Concourse D, the 15 premium suites accommodate one to four guests and feature hotel-quality bedding, in-room touchscreen entertainment, private showers, fresh towels, and a curated selection of snacks and beverages. These suites are available for hourly rates up to eight hours, providing a flexible and private refuge from airport crowds.

A second location in Concourse H is scheduled to open this summer, expanding this innovative concept across the airport. Designed for both rest and productivity, each suite offers a quiet, luxurious environment ideal for recovering from travel, holding private meetings, or catching up on work.

The experience is seamlessly integrated with technology—guests can control room settings and order food via in-room touchscreens—making comfort and convenience easily accessible. Starting at just $40 for a one-hour stay and from $200 for an overnight package, Wait n’ Rest offers a high-value alternative to traditional airport lounges.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava emphasized that this initiative represents the evolution of airports into lifestyle hubs, blending efficiency with comfort. Duilio Sanguineti, founder and CEO of Wait n’ Rest, highlighted that the modern traveler seeks more than just transit—they demand privacy, relaxation, and tailored experiences within their busy schedules.

As airports globally shift towards hospitality and experiential environments, Miami’s innovative step positions it at the forefront of this transformation. Waiting just got a lot more comfortable.
The opening of Wait n’ Rest is the latest customer service enhancement that is elevating the passenger experience at MIA. In 2025, Business travel platform Booking.com named MIA its third-best U.S. airport for business travelers; J.D. Power ranked MIAthe most-improved mega airport in North America for customer satisfaction; Global Traveler magazine named MIA its Best Airport for Layovers Award; and Food & Wine magazine included MIA in its annual list of Top 10 U.S. Airports for Food and Drink.
