March Events: Miami Book Fair, Willy Chirino, and More Across the City

March is a busy one across South Florida! The Village of Pinecrest kicks off its 30th anniversary celebrations with free community events open to all. Pinecrest Gardens is also bringing the music this month with a performance by Willy Chirino and his daughters. Miami Book Fair is launching a new literary series celebrating Jewish voices, and this is your last chance to catch Luminosa at Jungle Island before it closes on March 7. Miami Film Festival ticketing also goes live on March 11.


 

LUMINOSA AT JUNGLE ISLAND

Don’t miss your last chance to experience Luminosa before it closes on March 7. Miami’s most spectacular light festival transforms Jungle Island after dark into a glowing, romantic escape, with larger-than-life illuminated lanterns crafted by Chinese artists. Guests journey through mystical landscapes from the Amazon rainforest to a frozen kingdom, brought to life with handcrafted silk lanterns, holograms, animatronics, and interactive storytelling. Adult tickets range from $30.78 on weekdays to $46.88 on weekends, and child tickets (ages 4-12) from $21.58 to $33.08. VILLAGE OF PINECREST 30TH ANNIVERSARY

The Village of Pinecrest celebrates its 30th anniversary with two community events. Additional anniversary programming will be announced throughout the year.

PINECREST BIKE DAY: Saturday, March 7, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Pinecrest Bike Day kicks off the Village’s anniversary on Saturday, March 7, at Evelyn Greer Park with a free, guided two-mile bike ride led by Pinecrest Police Department officers, plus bounce houses, games, food vendors, and a DJ. Participants should register in advance for a chance to win a bike and other raffle prizes. Bring your own bike and helmet. SPRING GARDEN DAY: Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spring Garden Day follows on Saturday, March 21, at Pinecrest Gardens with a garden-wide scavenger hunt, DIY bouquet making, pop-up poetry O, Miami, harvest tours, bubble shows, and animal interactions. CHIRINO ACUSTICO AT PINECREST GARDENS

Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Grammy-winning Cuban-American musician Willy Chirino takes the stage at Pinecrest Gardens’ Banyan Bowl amphitheater for a special acoustic performance alongside his daughters. Chirino Acustico is a musical journey through a playlist blending traditional Cuban music with American and British classics from the 1960s through the 1990s, from Beny More and Celia Cruz to Elton John and Billy Joel, with every instrument performed by members of the Chirino family. CANDLELIGHT OPEN AIR: THE BEST OF FRANK SINATRA & NAT KING COLE

Friday, March 13, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

Candlelight Open Air concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to Pinecrest Gardens, celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole under the gentle glow of candlelight. The event is recommended for ages 8 and older, and guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone. MIAMI BOOK FAIR: STORIES WE SHARE: A NU READS CELEBRATION

Wednesday, March 18, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Miami Book Fair is launching Stories We Share: A Celebration of Jewish Voices, a new ongoing literary series spotlighting Jewish storytelling in all its breadth and complexity. The series kicks off with a free public launch event on Wednesday, March 18, at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, presented in partnership with the Jewish Book Council’s Nu Reads initiative. The evening features nationally recognized authors Maya Arad, Allegra Goodman, Rachel Kadish, and Tova Mirvis in conversation with Tony Award-winning producer and writer Stacey Mindich, and also marks the Miami introduction of Nu Reads, a bi-monthly book subscription program delivering exceptional Jewish literature directly to readers. Following the panel, guests are invited to an after-party with live klezmer-style jazz assembled by Vincent Raffard of French Horn Collective with live vocals by Shira Lee, along with mingling and light refreshments. MIAMI FILM FESTIVAL

The 43rd edition of Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival returns April 9 through 19, 2026, bringing together emerging and established filmmakers for 11 days of world-class cinema. The 2026 edition will showcase around  200 feature narratives, documentaries, and short films from 45 countries. Screenings and events take place across multiple Miami venues and individual tickets go on sale to the general public on March 11, 2026.
