| A Once-in-a-Lifetime Moment at the Miami Jewish Film Festival
January 24 at the Cosford Cinema and January 25 at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC |
| With profound pride and immense excitement, we’re honored to share a moment of extraordinary significance with our Miami community.
Many of you may have already read about the release of Israeli brothers Ariel and David Cunio, who were held captive by Hamas terrorists for more than 700 days—separated from their family and forced to endure constant fear and uncertainty (you can read more about them here). Their extraordinary story moved the world when, this past October, they were finally freed and reunited with their loved ones. At this year’s Miami Jewish Film Festival, we’re proud to announce that we’ll have the honor of welcoming Ariel and David Cunio as they attend the premiere of A Letter to David on January 24 at the Cosford Cinema and January 25 at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, alongside producer Nancy Spielberg and Israeli director Tom Shoval. It marks the first time Ariel and David will visit the United States, their first time in Miami, and their first opportunity to attend the premiere of the film that carries their story. As an audience, your presence helps ensure that their story is not only told, but truly received—by a community ready to listen, hold space, and bear witness. For months, this moment felt almost unimaginable. Only last week did we receive confirmation from producer Nancy Spielberg that this gathering could truly take place. We remain in awe—and profoundly grateful—that it has. A Letter to David, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Berlin Film Festival and went on to win Best Documentary at the Israeli Academy Awards (Ophirs), is a powerful testament to family, love, and hope in the face of unimaginable circumstances. In a time when truth and Jewish stories are too often distorted or erased, the film stands as an essential act of remembrance. The Miami Jewish Film Festival exists for moments like this. We fight for them—so that Jewish and Israeli stories are seen and held with care, especially when that visibility matters most. We know our community will surround Ariel and David with the compassion, dignity, and love they so deeply deserve. Tickets are extremely limited, and we encourage you to join us for this profound experience if you are able. We look forward to coming together in just a few weeks to honor the transformative power of storytelling across 16 unforgettable nights at the Miami Jewish Film Festival. |
