
ABFF Celebrates 30th Anniversary with “The Homecoming” and Calls for Film Submissions
The American Black Film Festival (ABFF), the premier platform for showcasing films by and about people of African descent, announces its milestone 30th edition, returning to Miami Beach May 27-31, 2026. With the theme “The Homecoming,” this festival honors its alumni, supporters, and community roots, highlighting a curated lineup shaped by those who launched their careers on the ABFF stage.
Founded in 1997 by Jeff Friday, ABFF has grown into a global hub for discovering and nurturing diverse talent, attracting over 7,000 attendees annually for five days of screenings, panels, and networking. Notable alumni include Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, and Issa Rae, with industry icons like Denzel Washington and Taraji P. Henson participating in key conversations.
Film submissions are open now through February 10, across categories including Narrative Features, Documentaries, Series, and innovative showcases like AI and XR storytelling. This year’s edition promises a powerful celebration of legacy, creativity, and the future of Black storytelling.
