Two-year investment from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation expands access for Miami’s emerging performing arts groups & artists
November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2026
Fantasy Theatre Factory (FTF) has been awarded a $100,000 Pérez CreARTE 2025 grant from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation to launch the Cultural Arts Partnership Residency (CAP@SRT Residency) at the Sandrell Rivers Theater.
This two-year grant will enable FTF to offer no-cost residencies that include rehearsal and performance space, hands-on production support, marketing assistance, and Business of the Arts sessions for emerging and under-resourced performing arts groups across Miami-Dade County.
“We’re really proud of all that the CAP@SRT Residency is going to offer our creative community in Miami. Access to affordable performance space is one of the biggest challenges in our arts community, and this program tackles that problem head-on by offering multiple performance spaces at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, along with rehearsal space and even access to office hours — allowing emerging arts groups the chance to grow their companies administratively. We’re so thankful to The Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation and Miami-Dade County for empowering us to create this systems-level change in our artistic community.”
— Larry Fields, CEO & Artistic Director, Fantasy Theatre Factory
The Pérez CreARTE Grants Program, led by Jorge and Darlene Pérez through The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation, is part of the family’s broader commitment to expanding access to arts and culture across South Florida. Established in 2019 in partnership with The Miami Foundation, CreARTE has awarded more than $16 million to support Arts Access, Arts Education, and Artist Residencies & Fellowships. The 2025 cycle of CreARTE grants will distribute over $5 million across 43 innovative projects over the next two years, advancing visual and performing arts, experimental programming, and educational initiatives throughout Miami-Dade County.
“We believe that creativity flourishes when artists have the space and resources to bring their visions to life,” said Jorge M. Pérez. “Through CreARTE, our family is proud to support programs like Fantasy Theatre Factory’s CAP@SRT Residency, which not only uplifts local artists but strengthens Miami’s arts ecosystem and helps build a sustainable creative future for the city.”

A Proven Partnership, Now Becoming a Residency
FTF first launched the Cultural Arts Partnership (CAP@SRT) in 2021 to give Miami-based artists access to professional stage space and production support in a partnership setting. Since then, it has presented more than 30 productions, showcasing work by Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, and multilingual artists who reflect South Florida’s rich diversity.
“When we launched CAP@SRT in 2021, our goal was simple: open the doors of the Sandrell Rivers Theater to artists who might not otherwise have access to a professional stage,” said Rommel Arellan-Marinas, Associate Artistic Director. “In just four years, we’ve helped more than 30 productions come to life. I’m incredibly proud to see how this program has become a home for Miami’s creative voices. Thanks to the Pérez CreARTE Grant, we’re now taking the next step by turning that access into long-term sustainability through the new CAP@SRT Residency Program.”
The Residency will offer selected artists free office, rehearsal, and performance space at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, plus marketing placement, press guidance, and mentorship through FTF’s Business of the Arts sessions led by company leadership — helping emerging companies build capacity and visibility.
The 2025-2026 CAP@SRT Residency period runs November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2026.
