Supporting Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

As a Jamaican, I am heartbroken over the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. On October 28, this Category 5 storm with 185 mph winds struck Jamaica’s New Hope, leading to widespread flooding, hospital evacuations, and tragic loss of life. The storm also impacted Haiti, Cuba, and Turks & Caicos, leaving many communities in ruins. Lives have been disrupted, and communities shattered.

My emotions run deep—this tragedy hits close to home. Now more than ever, Jamaica needs our support to recover, rebuild, and restore hope.
