HAYMAKERS FOR HOPE CHARITY BOXING EVENT IN MIAMI BEACH

Haymakers for Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research and care, invites South Florida to “knock out” cancer – literally – with its first charitable boxing event in Miami. The event will take place on March 6, 2025, at The Fillmore Miami Beach. All donations will benefit the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, South Florida’s leader in cancer diagnosis, state-of-the-art treatment and follow-up care, as well as various other cancer charities handpicked by the participating boxers.

For its charitable boxing matches, Haymakers for Hope selects “everyday” individuals from a pool of applicants to experience a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see what they can do in the ring. All participants undergo a rigorous four-month training program with expert USA Boxing-registered trainers, honing their skills and preparing mentally and physically for the big night. The journey culminates in an electrifying gala, where participants compete in their first official USA Boxing-sanctioned bout (against an opponent of similar size, age, weight and skill level) in front of nearly 2,000 supporters. The event also features “Ring Card Warriors,” cancer survivors who take turns holding up ring cards between each round.

“We are so excited to introduce our charity boxing event to the Miami community,” said Andrew Myerson, co-founder of Haymakers for Hope. “This rare program not only provides a unique and life-changing experience for the participants but also gives them a platform to raise money for cancer research, care and survivorship that wouldn’t have otherwise been raised. After all, not every fight ends at the bell.”

Since its founding in 2010, Haymakers for Hope has hosted over 40 boxing events in several major markets, including New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Denver and Washington, D.C., but this will be the first time an event is held in Miami. To date, the organization has raised over $32 million to fight cancer.

“Training for a boxing match is no joke; it takes so much commitment and truly tests each individual,” said Jordan McMillan, marketing manager for Haymakers for Hope. “But for those that rise to the challenge, they walk away from this experience more confident, in the best shape of their lives, and with a new community. Applying for something like this takes a lot of courage, but it’s a conscious choice someone gets to make. A cancer patient doesn’t get the choice whether to fight or not. They are diagnosed, and their life is changed forever.”

Tickets for the Miami boxing event will start at $85 per person and go on sale January 12, 2025. Those in attendance can expect a high-energy evening filled with action-packed entertainment and opportunities to support the fighters through donations and merchandise. The night promises to be epic in scale and energy, combining the thrill of live boxing with a premium event experience. Everyone will enjoy unforgettable moments in a high-class setting and leave a lasting impact by helping to raise significant funds for cancer research and treatment.
