Step into the world of textile storytelling at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. This vibrant evening showcases the culmination of a six-week community workshop series, where local artists and community members have woven together fabrics and stories to create stunning textile art. Here’s what you can expect:
- Community Creations on Display: Marvel at the arpilleras, a multi-dimensional textile art pieces of Chilean origin. This collection of textile artworks will narrate personal stories of Miami, crafted by community members under the guidance of talented local artists.
- Live Fashion and Performance: Witness a unique fashion installation by Cayla Willie, featuring Miccosukee-inspired patchwork, and experience a dynamic mega-weaving performance led by artist Vanya Allen.
- Create Your Own Textile Piece: Participate in hands-on textile workshops and create your own piece of art to take home.
- Refreshments for Purchase: Enjoy a selection of light refreshments available for purchase at The Cafe.
