9TH ANNUAL HISPANIC WOMEN OF DISTINCTION LUNCHEON

Sawgrass Mills, the largest outlet, value retail and entertainment center in the United States, will present a high-energy fashion runway show during the 9th Annual Hispanic Women of Distinction Luncheon, presented in association with returning lead sponsors Bank of America and Latina Style Magazine.  The event will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13th at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.

As one of the sponsors of Hispanic Women of Distinction, Sawgrass Mills will entertain almost 1,000 attendees with a memorable fashion presentation. Professional models wearing stylish day and evening attire from Sawgrass Mills’ most celebrated retailers will grace the extended runway to the beat of today’s hottest music.

“We are thrilled to be playing a significant role in this successful event,” said Carol Henderson, director of mall marketing and business development of Sawgrass Mills. “Sawgrass Mills continues to support a variety of causes, but this event in particular allows us to showcase the incredible fashions that are always available for less.”

The charity luncheon will also feature a silent auction, sponsor exhibit, raffles and complimentary mojitos.  The event is centered around 12 Latinas and a Latina Pioneer, honorees who were selected among more than 60 applicants by 5 judges. Nominations were made by former Hispanic Women of Distinction honorees and community leaders.

The 2010 Latina Pioneer Award will be presented to Joyce Carattini-Laureano Kaufman, a seasoned radio personality in the south Florida market for 19 years without interruption now airing on Radio 850 WFTL.  The 2010 Hispanic Women of Distinction honorees include Carmen J. Cuetos, Linda Gomez, Mary Ortiz Kandler, The Reverend Rosa Lindahl Mallow, Roymi V. Membiela, Nydia Menendez, Ruth E. Pacheco, Barbara Palacios, Dr. Alicia Fernanda Parra, Marlene Quintana, Liz Quirantes and Elizabeth San Juan.

“Year after year, Hispanic Women of Distinction continues to be one of the most popular events in South Florida,” said Elaine Vasquez, founder and organizer of Hispanic Women of Distinction. “We applaud Sawgrass Mills for supporting this event with an exciting fashion show and for their commitment to the community.”

Monica Gil, Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs for The Nielsen Company, event co-sponsor and the world’s leading provider of marketing information, audience measurement, and business media products and services, will co-emcee the luncheon along with Robert Bard, Publisher of Latina Style.  Myriam Masihy, Univision Channel 23 Reporter, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies along with Nuestra Belleza Latina 2010.
