8th Annual Miami Magic Gala: Diner de Têtês Masquerade

The Junior League of Miami (JLM), an organization of approximately 1,000 women, dedicated to the empowerment of Miami’s women, children and families, will bring Parisian sophistication and glamour to the InterContinental Miami on Friday, November 11, as it presents the 8th Annual Miami Magic Gala: Diner de Têtês Masquerade.  In addition to celebrating the Junior League of Miami’s 85th year of serving the Miami-Dade Community, the Gala will honor community leaders who, through their volunteerism, have made a significant impact on our community. This year the Junior League of Miami will honor Michael Caponni, Mike Eidson and Loren Ridinger.

This year’s event theme takes a cue from the allure of a French Masquerade, anticipated to attract more than 300 masked guests in black cocktail attire from neck to toe with theatrical hair and make-up, which will add a touch of drama to the already theatrical evening. The highly anticipated event will also feature an exclusive VIP reception, a whimsical performance provided by the Rainbow Cirque Troupe, a silent auction with more than forty carefully selected items, and a special awards presentation. Past Miami Magic honorees include:  Toby Lerner Ansin, Dr. Barth Greene, Alex Rodriguez, Michelle Bernstein, Romero Britto, Paul & Swanee DiMare, Alonzo & Tracy Mourning, Boo Park Zamek, to name a few.

“We are thrilled to host this year’s Miami Magic for the 8th year in a row,” said Dana Wolpert Martorella, JLM President.  “Each year we spotlight remarkable people who have made a tremendous impact on the lives of women and children of this community and we are honored to recognize their outstanding work, while being able to raise funds for the League.”

In-kind sponsors include Christofle, Bacardi, BBJ Linen, Northern Trust, Henri Bendel and Pop Chips. Sponsors include Genovese, Joblove, and Battista, P.A., Legon, Ponce, and Fodiman, P.A., Events by Maria Maloof, Lori and Santiago Riviere and April and Jason Pizzo.

The Junior League of Miami, finances community projects and grants solely through fundraising events, such as the Miami Magic fundraiser, members’ dues and the support of generous foundations, corporations, and individuals throughout our community.  Its main purpose and mission is exclusively educational and charitable.  This year, the Junior League of Miami is supporting numerous community programs, including Camillus House, Florida Breast Health Initiative, YMCA, Chapman Partnership (formerly, Community Partnership for Homeless), Family Counseling Services, University of Miami’s  Strong Roots- Kalulah Project, in addition to many others.  All proceeds from Miami Magic will benefit the Junior League of Miami, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization.
