Miami Celebrates Iconic Poinciana Tree at Annual Fiesta

The city of Miami is abuzz with excitement as it prepares to host the annual Poinciana Fiesta, a celebration dedicated to one of the world’s most spectacular and loved trees. This year’s event promises to be a “TREEmendous” one, featuring a range of activities, from art exhibitions to music, and more.

Co-sponsored by TREEmendous Miami, the event will take place over several days, beginning on Sunday, June 4, with the opening reception at Fairchild Garden. The reception will include an exhibit of Highwaymen paintings, music by Brian Murphy, food, and a special “Poinciana Punch.” Guests are asked to RSVP and bring a dish to share.

The fiesta will culminate in a free Symposium on Saturday, June 10, where attendees can learn about the history and benefits of the poinciana tree, as well as other trees important to the health of our environment and ourselves.

“It’s a great celebration of not only this iconic, beautiful tree, but also the importance of trees generally to the health of our environment and ourselves,” said a spokesperson for TREEmendous Miami.

The event is not only an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the poinciana tree but also to recognize three graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated a desire to make the world better and an interest in plants and the environment. The Queen and Court will be crowned during the Opening Reception on Sunday, June 4.
