18th Annual Basket Brigade

The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s (CDTC) 18th Annual Basket Brigade will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 8:30 am.    The Center hopes to provide a Thanksgiving meal to over 800 of CDTC’s families in need.

The mission of CDTC’s Basket Brigade is to provide some of the Center’s most underprivileged families with a “basket” filled with all the items needed to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey.  This year, volunteers may register online to shop for a family, host a food drive, or participate by assembling and delivering meals the day of the event.  Last year’s event had over 600 volunteers assemble and deliver Thanksgiving meals to more than 1100 families.   In addition to community support, American Express, Cheney Brothers and FedEx are partnering with CDTC to make this a successful event.

The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) is a not-for-profit organization that serves more than 10,000 children with special health care needs in Broward County. CDTC’s mission is to promote the optimal health and well-being of children with special health care needs by providing comprehensive prevention, intervention and treatment services within a medical home environment.  CDTC is a nationally recognized “Center of Excellence,” offering a unique system of care for infants, children and youth with chronic illnesses, disabilities and developmental delays. All medical care and social services are provided regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
