Rising Stars, a Broadway-style, professionally staged, energy packed, one-of-a-kind performance, highlights the extraordinary talent of high school and college students from New World School of the Arts, Florida’s premier arts institution. NWSA’s signature event, Rising Stars is not only an opportunity for the school to showcase student work at a professional venue, it also affords the school an opportunity to celebrate, recognize and share alumni contributions to the worlds of Dance, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts.

The showcase begins at the New World Gallery with a juried visual arts exhibition entitled Objects, featuring impressive and diverse artworks in painting, drawing, design, sculpture, digital media and installations The Rising Stars Exhibition offers guests, supporters, and friends a chance to explore and enjoy a carefully curated show while engaging with young artists to learn about their vision for their work.

The evening continues at the historic Olympia Theater with a pre-performance VIP Reception to welcome guests to downtown Miami’s artistic landmark, followed by the Rising Stars Performance at 7:30 PM. With a remarkable program directed by New World School of the Arts dean of theater, Patrice Bailey the evening showcases recognized work performed by the high school and the college students during the school year, including selected scenes from the award-winning musicals In the Heights and Big Fish; dance excerpts from distinguished choreographers such as Robert Battle, and a new dance choreographed for the NWSA college dancers by Ballet Hispanico’s Eduardo Vilaro. Exhilarating music selections presented by the NWSA Symphony Orchestra, NWSA’s award-winning Jazz and Wind Ensembles, and the Concert Choir will round off an evening of all things visual and performing arts.
