The NWSA Opera Theater Ensemble will perform side-by-side with the Miami Dade College voice department at Wolfson Campus in this unique evening of opera highlights. Featuring classics by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Bernstein, Sondheim, Porter, and more, this concert celebrates the collaborative spirit and vocal artistry of both ensembles in an unforgettable program. “This performance plays a vital role in each student’s artistic growth. It provides them with the opportunity to put their training into practice, honing their skills in vocal technique, stage presence, and interpretation within a real-world performance setting. As the director of this concert, my goal is to create an enriching, collaborative experience that allows students to apply their vocal and theatrical training in a live performance setting,” explained Dr. Megan Barrera, director of the concert and voice/opera faculty at NWSA. “By collaborating with MDC’s voice department at Wolfson Campus we hope to foster a sense of community and teamwork among the ensembles, encouraging students to learn from each other’s unique perspectives and strengths. Additionally, I aim for students to gain confidence, deepen their understanding of ensemble dynamics, and develop a professional-level approach to performing iconic musical theatre repertoire. Ultimately, this event is about celebrating our student’s growth, artistry, and passion for musical theatre.”
