United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse (UWBCCSA) was selected by CADCA (Community Anti Drug Coalitions of America) to present at the 26th Annual Leadership Forum held in Washington DC. UWBCCSA’s presentations included; “Bringing the Community Together with a Practical and Effective Approach to Implementing SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment)” and “Flakka – Lessons from Ground Zero.” Representatives from the organization attended the Capitol Hill Plenary and Legislative Update and met with Congresswoman Lois Frankel, Senator Bill Nelson and the staffs of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Senator Marco Rubio. Heather Davidson, Prevention Specialist with United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, coordinated the Florida State and Territory Meeting for Capitol Hill Day.
