Germane Barnes, associate professor and director of the Community Housing Identity Lab at the School of Architecture, presents Ukhamba, an installation commissioned by the Museum of Art and Design at the MDC Wolfson Campus. Launched at the Miami Book Fair, the exhibition was inspired by Barnes’s experiences working both in South Africa and Miami. The pavilion, resembling part basket and part traditional breeze wall, serves as a unique space for contemplation on our connection to the built environment, urban design, historical narratives, and cultural memories.
