Turning the Tide Through Education: 8th Annual Everglades Teacher Symposium – July 22

As Florida faces rising climate challenges, one annual event is helping local educators prepare students to become tomorrow’s environmental stewards—starting with the Everglades. On Tuesday, July 22, the Everglades Foundation will host its 8th Annual Everglades Teacher Symposium at the Kovens Conference Center, FIU Biscayne Bay Campus in North Miami.

From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., teachers will engage in dynamic learning sessions focused on the Greater Everglades Ecosystem, connect with community partners, and walk away with standards-aligned lesson plans and hands-on resources.

Themed “Turning the Tide: Inspiring Action Through Education,” this symposium gives educators the tools to teach climate literacy and conservation through the lens of one of the world’s most critical and threatened wetlands.

Media are invited to cover this one-of-a-kind professional development event and speak with:

  • Everglades Foundation education leaders
  • Participating K-12 teachers from across South Florida
  • FIU faculty and environmental science experts
