Tony and Sandra Tamer Make Historic $50M Gift to Establish Women’s Health Institute at UHealth

Sandra and Tony Tamer

University of Miami Health System has announced a groundbreaking gift from Tony and Sandra Tamer, establishing the Tamer Institute for Women’s Health—set to transform women’s healthcare in South Florida. The flagship program seamlessly integrates clinical care, research, and education to serve women across all life stages, from adolescence to postmenopause.

Located on the university’s medical campus, the institute features a holistic, patient-centered model with multidisciplinary teams, personalized treatments, and family-friendly, flexible scheduling. It aims to address the urgent need for comprehensive, preventative, and chronic condition management for women in the rapidly growing region.

The Tamers’ generosity includes endowed funds supporting clinical programs, research, talent recruitment, and a renovated space in Miami’s Civica Building. This initiative responds to the stark reality that nearly 50% of U.S. women forego preventive services and that a majority live with chronic health issues requiring coordinated care.

Dr. Dipen Parekh, UHealth CEO, praised the gift: “This institute will set a national standard, ensuring women across South Florida receive expert, accessible care tailored to their unique health needs.” The Tamer Institute’s opening is slated for early 2026, advancing the future of women’s health with innovative, lifelong solutions.
